Desde hace tiempo tengo la oportunidad de cruzar palabras con la persona y mente maestra de la música que más he escuchado este último par de años y esto de verdad que es un honor para mi. Aquí les comparto un poco de información para que lo conozcan y lo sigan, todo lo que hace suena bastante bien y vale la pena se los aseguro.
- Hey Andrew, ¿nos podrías dar una breve descripción de lo que haces?
Soy el propietario/productor de Zink Audio en St. Petersburg, Florida; Soy el escritor y cantante de voces limpias en la banda de metal progresivo Akeldama y también soy escritor y uno de los tres vocalistas de la banda de metal sinfónico Into Infernus.
- Aparte de ser músico y productor, ¿qué más haces?
También soy un estudiante de tiempo completo. Y cuando no estoy estudiando o escribiendo/produciendo música, por lo regular juego videojuegos!
- ¿Cuándo descubriste tu pasión por la música?
De niño, en realidad. El primer álbum que tuve fue el "Black Album" de Metallica. Tenía solo 3 o 4 años en ese entonces pero fue la primera vez que escuche metal. Quedé impresionado. Quería ser como ellos y quería escuchar música más pesada. Desde entonces, me metí en música cada vez más pesada. Ya escuchaba a Cannibal Corpse en 6to. grado! He sido metalero toda mi vida y siempre he tenido ese interés por la música en general..
- ¿Qué te inspira para seguir haciendo lo que haces?
Para mi, no hay nada mejor que el sentimiento que obtengo al escribir una canción. Es definitivamente lo que hago mejor. Y ese sentimiento es lo que me motiva a seguir haciéndolo.
- Algunos de nosotros te conocemos desde Ovid's Withering, ¿qué pasó y por qué no eres parte de ellos?
De hecho la mitad de Akeldama fueron miembros originales de Ovid's Withering. Simplemente tuvimos diferentes direcciones en nuestro estilo.
- Luego con Akeldama (que creo es tu banda principal) estás teniendo un gran crecimiento en el área del metal/progresivo, ¿cómo ha sido?
Ha sido increíble. Hemos ganado muchísimos seguidores de diferentes partes del mundo. Nuestros fans son los mejores! :]
- Ahora dinos algo de Into Infernus, sé que McTiernan es irlandés, ¿es complicado hacer que funcionen las cosas?
Para nada difícil de hecho. Actualmente él es uno de mis mejores amigos. Nos comunicamos diariamente para estar siempre en la misma página. Prácticamente él es el cerebro detrás de todos los conceptos líricos. Él también está involucrado en un proyecto llamado Sarkophagus que es demasiado épico. Connor Reibling está ahí de igual manera.
- Sé que es difícil mantener el ritmo en tu ocupada vida, pero aún así tienes un proyecto solista, ¿verdad? ¿también podemos esperar cosas nuevas de ahí?
Mi EP está terminado. Es solo que estoy trabajando arduamente en un puñado de otras cosas. Estoy tratando de terminar todo lo demás y claro que después tiraré una fecha para el lanzamiento así como algunos adelantos!
- Y el gran Project Rogue, ¿podrías decirle a la gente de qué trata?
El Project Rogue son artistas metaleros legendarios y emergentes uniéndose para crear un único, proyecto de música y video. El proyecto se conforma de artistas de bandas como System of A Down, Lamb of God, Cannibal Corpse, Cynic, Devildriver y muchas más! Nuestra campaña de indiegogo está actualmente activa. - Como músico, ¿qué desearías lograr?
Solo quiero seguir haciendo música. Esa es mi meta. Nunca quisiera dejar de hacerlo porque es lo que me hace más feliz que nada! Por ello, he conocido muchísima gente nueva y tocado en demasiados shows. Ya hasta estuve de gira con Scar Symmetry, una de mis bandas favoritas de todos los tiempos!
- Tienes una cantidad de fans muy respetable en Latinoamerica, ¿algo que les quieras decir?

- Hey Andrew, can you give us a brief description of what you do?
I'm the owner/producer at Zink Audio in St. Petersburg, Florida; I'm the songwriter and clean vocalist for the progressive metal band Akeldama and I'm also the songwriter and one of the three vocalist for the symphonic metal band Into Infernus.
- Besides being a musician and producer, what else do you do?
I'm also a full time student. And when I'm not studying or writing/producing music, I'm usually playing video games!
- When did you realize your passion for music?
As a child, actually. The first album I ever owned was the "Black Album" from Metallica. I was only 3 or 4 years old at the time but it was the first time I had ever heard metal music. I was blown away. I wanted to be like them and I wanted to hear more heavier music. From there, I just got into heavier and heavier music. I was listening to Cannibal Corpse by 6th grade! I've been a metal head my whole life and I've always had an interest in music in general.
- What inspires you to keep doing what you do?
For me, there's nothing better than the feeling I get when I write a song. It's definitely what I do best. And that feeling is what drives me to keep doing it.
- Some of us know you since Ovid's Withering, what happened and why aren't you part of them now?
Actually half of Akeldama are former Ovid's Withering members. We just had different stylistic direction.
- Then with Akeldama (that I think it's your primary band) you're having an incredible growth in the progressive/metal area, how has it been?
It's been incredible. We've gained a following in many parts of the world. Our fan are the coolest! :]
- Now tell us something about Into Infernus, I know McTiernan is Irish, is it hard to make things work?
Not hard at all actually. He's one of my best friends actually. We communicate
on a daily basis so we're always on the same page. He is pretty much the brains behind all of our lyrical concepts. He's also involved in a project called Sarkophagus that's really epic. Connor Reibling is also in that as well.
- I know it's hard to keep on your busy life, but you still have a solo project right? Can we expect new stuff over there too?
My EP is finished. I'm just busy working on a handful of other things. I'm trying to wrap up everything else going on and then I'll definitely throw everyone a release date as well as some teasers!
- And the great Project Rogue, can you tell the people what is it about?

- As a musician, what do you want to achieve?
I just want to keep writing music. That is my goal. I don't ever want to stop because it's the one thing that makes me happier than anything else! Because of it, I've met so many new people and played so many shows. I even toured with Scar Symmetry, one of my favorite bands of all time!
