My Life Over & Over (Proyecto personal)
¡Que onda! Hace unas semanas publicamos un video en Presagio acerca de Terraform, una banda nueva del Reino Unido que tiene en mente recorrer largo camino en
el género del melodic hardcore. Atasque tuvo la oportunidad de entrevistar a Craig Hunt, guitarrista líder de la agrupación quien también tiene un proyecto individual de
música melódica/ambiental. He de añadir (siendo fan de ese género también), me enamoré de su trabajo.
En la entrevista hablamos acerca de su trabajo y su experiencia personal en el grupo. Aquí está la pequeña plática que tuvimos con él:

Atasque: First of all, how did you start to want be a musician? What did you expect of that life-style?
Craig Hunt: We all grew up from childhood into teens and into adults surrounded by music. Finding out more at school and colleges and discovering more and more about music to build a passion for it which lead to us all wanting to be musicians. Now music is our life! We wouldn't know what to do without it.
And it's a part of our lifestyle and has been since a young age so it's something that is normal to us, and without it we wouldn't be comfortable.
Atasque: A marvelous answer. Passion is what is needed to make into a lifestyle that way.
You are a group, a band, so the final output is a set of actions. From your point of view and talking about actions and goals: What is your contribution to the group as a member?
Craig Hunt: As far as my own contribution to the band I do a lot of writing and demoing either in my own room at home or at the space we have at the lockups we rehearse and record at. Crayg our vocalist writes just as much though and we throw all our ideas together and turn them into potential songs.
Every member of the band does their own bit towards progressing the band further in many areas so we all work together as a group!
Atasque: Good! And speaking about in-group contribution. Are you the one who cheers up the group or are you the one that gets mad when something goes wrong? Who are you in the group?
Craig Hunt: Haha I think I could easily cheer up everyone in many ways, as I do some things sometimes that can be quite hilarious and daft! but I can also be a bit of an asshole but who doesn't?
We're all the same really, we have our good days and bad days but at the end of it all we stick together and carry on doing what we love doing!
Atasque: Haha That's right! After all, comradeship is what's best of being part of a group, always heading forward through everything.
Here is another personal question. All in this life comes from somewhere, so I would like to know: What were your inspirations, your foundations to become what you are?
Craig Hunt: I actually was very much into football (or more known as Soccer down your way) at a young age, but quickly grew out of that as I got older and very quickly got more and more into music. Started out as pop punk and believe it or not techno and trance music as I bounced off my brother who was into his DJ stuff.
Then as I hit high school I discovered more heavier music along the metal side and. It was all about what music was going around at the time and the people that surrounded me in high school and college especially! I now sit in a position where music is everything to me.
Yeah I have a daytime job and stuff and have a few other small hobbies but it's nothing in comparison to my music life!!
Atasque: It is seen that the band puts a lot of effort on the work you are doing. After the release of your EP: Which are your plans just around the corner?
Craig Hunt: We actually have a lot of plans up to and after our EP drops, before we will continue to carry on writing as we always do and material will be played around with for the release after the EP further down the line (so we're many months ahead of ourselves already).
We are also in contact with some great people who will be organizing certain shows for us around the UK and mainland Europe! With the EP we are planning on having a PR/press campaign behind us so that the music gets the exposure we think.
Atasque: And finally, a very important question: What is the message you want to give out as Terraform?
Craig Hunt: As Terraform and as individual musicians the main message we put across with our music is to enjoy it and get the same buzz and vibes we get off it. We want people to feel the impact we do on the heavier sections and the right vibes that we do off the more ambient/melodic parts in our songs.
So the main message is that we want people to feel positive and influenced in any way when they hear our music on recording and live!

Atasque: Primero que nada ¿Cómo fue que empezaste a desear ser músico? ¿Qué esperabas de ese estilo de vida?
Craig Hunt: Todos hemos crecido rodeados de música desde la niñez hasta ser adolescentes y luego adultos. Averiguando más en la escuela y en la universidad y descubriendo más y más sobre la música para construir una pasión por ella que nos conduce a todos nosotros a querer ser músicos. ¡Ahora la música es nuestra vida! No sabríamos qué hacer sin ella.
Y es una parte de nuestro estilo de vida y ha sido desde muy temprana edad así que es algo normal para nosotros, y sin ella no estaríamos cómodos.
Atasque: Una maravillosa respuesta. Pasión es lo que se necesita para adentrarse en un estilo de vida de esa manera.
Ustedes son un grupo, una banda, así que el trabajo final es un conjunto de acciones por parte de ustedes. Desde tu punto de vista, y hablando de acciones y metas ¿Cuál es tu contribución al grupo como miembro?
Craig Hunt: En cuanto a mi propia contribución a la banda, hago un montón de escritos y demos, ya sea en mi propia habitación en casa o en el espacio que tenemos en las bodega donde ensayamos y grabamos. Crayg, nuestro vocalista, escribe casi igual, y juntamos nuestras ideas para convertirlas en canciones potenciales.
Cada miembro de la banda pone su propio granito de arena para mover a la banda aún más lejos en muchas áreas ¡Así que todos trabajamos juntos como un grupo!
Atasque: ¡Bien! Y hablando de contribución dentro del grupo ¿Eres aquel que anima al grupo o aquel que se enoja cuando algo sale mal? ¿Quién eres en el grupo?
Craig Hunt: Jaja Creo que podría fácilmente animar todos en muchas maneras, yo también hago cosas a veces que pueden ser tontas y divertidas. Pero también puedo ser un mamón, pero ¿quién no?
¡Todos somos iguales, tenemos nuestros buenos y malos días pero al final todos permanecemos juntos y avanzamos haciendo lo que amamos hacer!
Atasque: Jaja ¡Así es! Después de todo, el compañerismo es lo mejor de ser parte de un grupo, siempre encontrar la manera de solucionar todo.
Aquí otra pregunta personal. Todo en esta vida viene de algún lugar, así que quisiera saber: ¿Cuáles fueron tus inspiraciones?¿Los cimientos que te hicieron lo que ahora eres?
Craig Hunt: De hecho estaba muy adentrado al fútbol (o más conocido como soccer) de muy joven, pero rápidamente crecí y eso me hizo adentrarme más y más en la música. Empecé con el Pop-Punk y, créelo o no, algo de Tecno y Trance, un reflejo del trabajo de mi hermano como DJ.
Cuando llegué a la preparatoria descubrí música más pesada del lado del Metal y pues todo se dio por la música y la gente de la que me rodeaba, especialmente en la universidad. Ahora me encuentro en una posición donde la música es todo para mí.
Sí, tengo un trabajo de tiempo completo y todo eso, así como otros pasatiempos ¡Pero nada se le compara a mi vida con la música!
Atasque: Se ve que la banda se esfuerza mucho en el trabajo que realizan. Después del lanzamiento de su EP: ¿Cuáles son sus planes a la vuelta de la esquina?
Craig Hunt: De hecho, tenemos un montón de planes hasta y después de que nuestro EP salga, antes seguiremos escribiendo como siempre lo hacemos y el material se tocará un poco después con el lanzamiento de nuestro EP (así que estamos a muchos meses adelantados).
¡También estamos en contacto con algunas personas que organizarán algunos conciertos para nosotros en todo el Reino Unido y Europa continental! Con el EP estamos pensando en tener una campaña de relaciones públicas detrás de nosotros, para que nuestra la música obtenga la exhibición que pensamos.
Atasque: Y finalmente, una pregunta bien importante: ¿Cuál es el mensaje que quieres dar a conocer como Terraform?
Craig Hunt: Como Terraform y músicos individuales el principal mensaje que ponemos a través de nuestra música es para disfrutarla y obtener el mismo zumbido y vibraciones que recibimos de ella. Queremos que la gente sienta el impacto que hacemos en las secciones más pesadas y las vibraciones correctas que realizamos en las partes más ambientales/melódicas en nuestras canciones.
¡Así que el mensaje principal es que queremos que la gente se sienta positiva e influida de alguna manera cuando escuchan nuestra música en la grabación y en vivo!
