Being As An Ocean es una banda que repentínamente ha surgido en los últimos meses de la escena, con un álbum en su haber (Dear G-d...), han causando todo un revuelo y un movimiento en lo que respecta al melodic hardcore, con letras profundas de sentimientos, decepciones, esperanza y cosas por el estilo, les dejo unas preguntitas que nos hicieron el favor de responder ya saben dónde, sólo aquí en Atasque.
No esperabamos que fuese así de exitoso, no. Definitivamente no esperabamos estar tocando shows en Europa y tener chicos que se saben todas las palabras. Todo lo que tenemos es una bendición, y cada día nos damos más cuenta de eso.
- Musicálmente, ¿Cuáles son sus bandas y/o artistas favoritos?
Bon Iver, Sigur Ros, mewithoutYou, The 1975, The Tidal Sleep, Now, Now, Between The Buried And Me, Death Cab For Cutie, Pianos Become The Teeth, Seahaven, etc.
- Sus letras son muy inspiradoras, ¿De dónde sacan esa inspiración?
Todas las letras en Dear G-d… fueron escritas en base a nuestra experiencia personal y relaciones pasadas. Te sorprendería el saber con cuántas personas te puedes identificar en la vida. Esta música me ha enseñado eso.
- Todo ese mensaje se está transmitiendo a tanta gente, ¿Cómo se siente eso?
Es una locura, y bastante genial. Entre más gente nos entienda, mejor nos sentimos en cada aspecto.
- ¿Han tenido alguna dificultad en su carrera musical? (Si es así, ¿Cuál fue? ¿Y cómo lo superaron?)
Lo peor es cuando tu gente más allegada no entiende lo que haces y no te respaldan. Es como que tú tienes este sueño de estar en una banda y está funcionando y todo funciona para ti pero no a todos les va a gustar y eso es algo con lo que simplemente tienes que lidiar.
- ¿Cuál es su meta?, ¿Su sueño a alcanzar?
Casi llegamos a eso en este momento. Iremos a Australia, Canada, todo Estados Unidos, y a Europa dos veces este año; y todo lo que queremos hacer es ver el resto del mundo.
- Sabemos que ya visitaron México, ¿Qué tal su viaje?
Fue asombroso, absolútamente amamos tocar en México.
- ¿Hay planes para visitar Sudamérica?
Estamos totalmente con la idea y queremos hacerlo, solo necesitamos contactos en Sudamérica que nos contacten y digan que pueden armar los shows. No es la región más fácil para organizarlo.
- Muchas bandas que parecen prometedoras mueren en el intento,
¿Qué les dirían?
Si quieren lograrlo, lo pueden lograr :). Ni siquiera se necesita mucha suerte. Sólamente haz una lista de cosas que necesitas hacer para alcanzar tu meta y táchalas de una por una.
- ¿Cuáles son sus planes para lo que falta del 2013?
Tenemos 3 tours más en EU, Australia, en Europa nuevamente con Capsize y The Elijah, posíblemente otro gran tour en los EU con una gran banda de los EU y luego a escribir y grabar nuestro próximo CD :).
- Ustedes son muy queridos por sus fans, por cosas como estas, el contacto que tienen con cada persona es especial, muchísimas gracias por su tiempo, esperamos verlos algún día, ¡Sigan haciendo lo que mejor saben! :)

We didn't expect it to be this successful, no. We definitely didn't expect to be playing in shows in Europe and having kids know all the words. Everything we have is a blessing, and we're made more and more aware of that every day.
- Musically, what are your favorite bands and/or artist?

- Your lyrics are very inspirational, from where do you get that inspiration?
All the lyrics on Dear G-d… were written about personal experience and past relationships. You'd be surprised how many people can relate to you in life. This music has taught me that.
- All that message is being transmitted to many people, how do you feel about that?
It's really crazy, and really cool. The more people understand us, the better we feel about everything.
- Have you had some difficulty in your musical career? (If so, what was it? and how do you overcome it?)
The worst thing is the people closest to you not understanding what you're doing and not getting behind it. It's like you have this dream of being in a band and it's working and you have everything working for you but not everyone is going to like it and that's just something you have to deal with.
- What is your goal?, your dream to reach?
We're pretty much there at this point. We're going to make it to Australia, Canada, All of the US, and Europe twice this year; and all we want to do is see the rest of the world.
- We know you already visited Mexico, how was your trip?
It was awesome, we absolutely love playing Mexico.
- Any plans for doing a tour for South America?
We are completely into the idea and want to get it done, we just need contacts in South America to reach out and say they can set up the shows. It's not the easiest region to get set up with.
- A lot of emerging bands that seem to be very promising die out in the try out,
what would you tell them?
If you want to make it happen, you can make it happen :). It doesn't even take a lot of luck. Just make a list of things you need to do to achieve your goal and cross them off one by one.
- What are your plans for the rest of 2013?
We have 3 more US tours, Australia, Europe again with Capsize and The Elijah, possibly another big US tour with a very big US band and then writing and recording our next CD :).
- You guys are very loved by your fans, just for things like this, the contact you got with every person is special, thank you so much for your time, we all hope to see you someday, keep doing what you do best! :)
