Entrevista: The Korea

Tuvimos el honor de compartir unas palabras con la banda The Korea, quienes nos hablaron un poco a cerca de sus inicios como banda, su nuevo álbum "Chariots Of The Gods" y de los planes que tienen para con la banda.

Antes de empezar, quiero agradecerte por tu tiempo y por dejar que tus fans te conozcan un poco más.
The Korea: Es un placer contarles algunos hechos interesantes acerca de nosotros y conocer a nuestros fans un poco más.

Yo sé que The Korea ha tocado aproximadamente desde el 2003, ¿podrían contarnos acerca de sus comienzos dentro de la música?
The Korea: La historia empezó cuando dos hermanos Alexander (guitarra) y Sergey (batería) querían hacer una banda e invitaron a Evgeny (actualmente guitarra) para tomar la parte vocal. Al principio Evgeny cantó y tocó la guitarra. Y el estilo musical era muy diferente al actual. Después un guitarrista más fue invitado a la banda y Evgeny empezó en aquél momento a moverse en el escenario y cantar.

¿Cómo conocieron a los demás miembros de The Korea?
Los primeros miembros de The Korea vivían en la misma Bloque/cuadra llamada Kapuchino. Empezamos tocando nuestra música juntos en las calles de esta cuadra. Después dos dudes más se nos unieron -Ilia Y Ruslan-. Ellos llegaron a St Petersburg de otras ciudades de Rusia para encontrarse con ellos mismos y hacer música.

¿Cómo describirías el sonido de The Korea?
The Korea: Es un sonido muy fundamental, la combinación entre la nitidez y el volumen, el espacio y el mundo interno.

Con los recientes problemas legales, y otros proyectos de leyes que quieren cambiar las leyes del internet. ¿Qué piensan acerca de la piratería y la distribución ilegal de la música?
The Korea: Desafortunadamente en nuestro país no hay camino sin piratería. La mayoria de la música en el internet Ruso comenzó siendo se propagada de forma gratuita. Lo mismo en películas y otras cosas. Estamos a favor de los derechos de los artistas y regalías por su trabajo.

¿Por qué el nombre de The Korea?
The Korea: En el momento nos pareció efectivo y fácil de recordar. Debemos notar que el nombre apareció espontáneamente y sólo porque era necesario para organizar el primer concierto.

¿´Cuáles son sus ambiciones como banda? ¿Qué quieren lograr?
The Korea: Queremos que nuestra música sea popular fuera de Rusia, salir de gira a diferentes países y que nuestros oyentes puedan escucharnos en vivo. Y también queremos crear más y más sorprendentes tracks. Y ahora agradecemos a nuestra label Rogue Records America, será más fácil hacer llegar nuestra música a nuestros oyentes  de otros países.

¿Podrías nombrar algunas de tus influencias?
The Korea: desde luego, son Mechuggah, Deftones, Tool, Sikth y muchos otras otras bandas bien conocidas.

¿Tienen otra influencia? quizás un actor, novelista, escritor, no sé...
The Korea: Podríamos decir que son más directores, algunas películas de ciencia ficción. Algunos artistas crean un excelente ánimo y tono para trabajar en las canciones.

La escena Rusa es mi escena favorita de todo el mundo, hablande de Deathcore / Metalcore, ¿Qué piensas acerca de la escena Rusa?
The Korea: Nos alegra saber que amas la escena del metal Ruso! Aquí hay muchos extraordinarios y no sólo de bandas de Metal Ruso. Casi cada género tiene un gran representante en Rusia...

Desde que conozco a The Korea, he visto que muchos dudes latinoamericanos están excitados con su tipo de música, ¿Qué le diría a una persona que aún no ha escuchado su música?
The Korea: Nosotros recomendaríamos escuchar nuestra música pronto y esperamos que el número de nuestros fans crezca. Muy Pronto nuestro álbum llegará a ustedes! Haha!

No puedo esperar por ello. Hablenos un poco de su más reciente trabajo "The Chariot Of the Gods".
The Korea: Este trabajo es totalmente diferente a todo lo que hicimos antes del 2011... Primero, hemos encontrado un nuevo sonido y concepto musical... Segundo, en algunas prioridades personales y razones Evgeny tomó la posición de guitarrista y oro vocalista fue invitado a la banda. Tercero, éste es el trabajo más conceptual e impresionante que hayamos hecho y diremos que es sólo el principio! Haha!

Yeah!! Habrá The korea para rato. ¿Cuál es el siguiente paso para The Korea? ¿Qué quieren lograr en este 2013? quizá otro videoclip, giras, nuevo ep...
The Korea: Nos preparamos para una gira y preparamos un nuevo video. Estamos incluso pensando en ir a ustedes.

No lo puedo creer :'D sería lo máximo bro. ¿Les gustaría venir a Latinoamerica? La escena aquí está creciendo mucho; hay un chorro de fans de su música.
The Korea: Nos encantaría!! Y esperamo manejar las cosas para ir a ustedes y darles algunos excepcionales shows!

Estaré esperando ese día. ¿Les gustaría hacer gira con alguna banda latina? ¿Conocen alguna que les guste?
The Korea: Estamos seguros de que hay buenísimas bandas en latinoamerica! Y por supuesto que sería agradable conocerlos y tocar juntos!

¿Cómo describirían el nuevo sonido de The Korea en "Saturnus"?
The Korea: "Saturnus" será asombroso! Una especie de precuela de nuestro trabajos anteriores. Los fans de "The Chariot Of The Gods" lo amarán , porque tendrá de todo de lo del último álbum, sólo que dos veces más fuerte!

Before we start, I want to thank you for your time and for letting your Latin-American fans to get to know You a little bit more.
- It is our pleasure to tell some interesting facts about us and to meet our Latin-American fans closer.

I know that The Korea has been playing since 2003, or something like that, Could you tell me about your beginnings in the music business?
- The story started when two brothers Alexander (guitar) and Sergey (drums) wanted to make a band and invited Evgeny (guitar) to take the vocal part. In the beginning Evgeny sang and played guitar. And the music style was very different from the current one. Later one more guitarist was invited to the band and Evgeny starting from that moment could freely move around the stage and sing.

How do you met the other members of The Korea?
- The first members of the Korea were from the same block called Kupchino. We started playing our music together on the streets of this block. Later two more guys – Ilia and Ruslan – joined us. They came to St. Petersburg from the other cities of Russia to find themselves and play music.

How do you describe the sound of The Korea?
- It is a very fundamental sound, combining sharpness and volume, space and internal world.

With the recently legal problems, and other bill that want to change laws on internet, What you think about "Piracy" and ilegal distributions of music?
- Unfortunately in our country there is no way without “piracy”. Most of the music on Russian internet is being spread out for free. The same is about movies and other things. We stand for the rights of the artistic people and royalties for their job.

Why The Korea´s Name?
- At that moment it looked to us effective and memorable. We shall notice that that the name appeared spontaneously and only because it was necessary to organize the first concert.

What are your ambitions as a band? What do you want to accomplish?
- We want our music to become popular outside of Russia, to go on tours to different countries so our listeners could hear us live. And also we want to create more and more awesome tracks. And now thank to our Rogue records America label it will be easier to bring our music to the listeners in the other countries.

Could you name some of your influences?
- Of course these are Meshuggah, Deftones, Tool, Sikth and many other well-known music bands!

Do you have another influence? maybe an actor, author, novelist, I don't know
- We would say that these are more directors, some fantastic and scientific movies. Some artists create just a great mood and tone to work on the songs.

Russian scene is my favorite scene in the world ever, talking about Deathcore / Metalcore genres, what you think about Russian scene?
- We are glad to know that you love Russian metal scene! There are many outstanding and not only Metal bands in Russia. Almost every genre has a great representative in Russia...

Since I Know The Korea, I saw that many many latinamerican dudes are excited with the kind of your music, what would you say to a person who has not heard your music yet?
- We would recommend listening to our music soon and we hope that the number of our fans will grow. Very soon our album will come to you! Haha!

Talk us about your newest release "The Chariot Of The Gods".
- This work is totally different from everything that was done before 2011… First, we have found a new sound and music concept… Second, on some personal priorities and reasons Evgeny took the guitarist position and another vocalist was invited to the band. Third, this is the most conceptual and awesome work we have ever done and we shall say it is just the beginning! Haha!

What is the next step for the Korea? What do you want to achieve in 2012?
maybe another music video, touring, new music...
- We are getting ready for a tour and preparing a new video. And we are even thinking of coming to you.

Would you like to come to latinamerica? The scene here is getting bigger; here are a lot of fans of your music.
- We would love to!! And we hope that we manage to come to you and to give some outstanding shows!

Would You Like to tour with a latinamerican band? do You Know anyone you like?
- We are sure there are great bands in Latin America! And of course it would be cool to meet them and to play together!

"How you will describe the new sound of The Korea in "Saturnus"?"
- “Saturnus” will be awesome! Some kind of prequel to our previous works. The “Chariots” fans will love it for sure because it will have everything from the last album but just two times stronger!
